What is a 'Last'?

The LAST is the designed form that the shoe uppers are pulled over and secured on during manufacture. The Last defines not only foot shape but more importantly the shoe and especially toe shape. All our lasts are given names, for example Hemmings, Moon or Stamp. Historically the forms were wooden like the shoes trees but are now more commonly dense plastic.
